Avoid last-minute stress and unexpected costs by eliminating these three common file errors before you hit "send."
Mistake #1: No Bleed
The Problem: Your design has color or images that go to the edge of the page. Printers need extra margin (usually 3mm) to trim the paper without leaving a thin white line.
The Fix: Extend your background colors and images 3mm beyond the final trim line. Set up your document with bleeds from the start.
Mistake #2: Using RGB Color
The Problem: Sending files in RGB mode forces our RIP software to convert colors to CMYK automatically, often with unpredictable, dull results.
The Fix: Convert all images and document color spaces to CMYK before finalizing. For brand colors, specify Pantone (PMS) numbers for precise matching.
Mistake #3: Fonts Not Outlined/Embedded
The Nightmare: If our system doesn't have the font you used, it will substitute another, destroying your layout.
The Fix: In Illustrator or InDesign, convert all text to outlines/paths. In PDF settings, ensure fonts are embedded. Always include a final press-ready PDF alongside your native files.
The Takeaway: Perfect files lead to perfect prints, on time and on budget.
